Summer 2012

After a hectic end to the first year, summer had finally arrived. But the work didn't stop. I had a couple of my own projects away from uni that I had to finish, which included the wedding video I had been working on through the end of the 1st year and also a Ministry of Sound video that was close to being complete. This summer was all about earning enough money to keep me going through this year so I knew it wasn't going to be that great at times. Going back on the building site and having my freelance work on the side meant that I was always going to be busy. Below is the final wedding video I finished around 2 weeks into the holidays.

The main thing I wanted to get from this was a positive response from the customers. And a positive response is what I got. Getting a message back saying 'it brought us both to tears' was a great feeling. Even looking back at it today makes me feel good knowing that it was my first ever wedding video. I took a lot away from this job for the future when I get my next wedding job. They include:

  •  Pricing
  •  Pre-planning shots (storyboards, shot lists)
  •  What equipment I need
  •  A second shooter is vital
I will expand on these in other blog posts but it was made clear when I was shooting the wedding that planning is key. It just means their is less to think about during the shoot which means you can focus on trying to make the shot look a lot nicer.
