You can expect to attract a wide variety of people to all exhibitions that are held. Whether these are professionals, friends, family, I feel that you need to be prepared for all types of audience. There would be people there that know what is being shown and how it has been made but in a lot of cases, friends and family have no clue about what is being shown. So when I say we need to be prepared for different types of audience, what I mean is you need we need to be prepared to explain to people who do not know anything about what is going on and also prepared to ask questions coming from professionals and other practitioners. I think of it in a way that someone at that exhibition could maybe looking for someone to work with, so your impression that you give off to them is vital. What I found was towards the second half of the exhibition, people started to sit down in groups under where the work was hanging and I feel for people coming in at that time, it can feel quite un welcoming, and Im just thinking about if someone who was a professional and they were to walk into an environment that was like this, It could instantly turn there interests away.
I didn't say anything during our discussion in class as I didn't want to seem like I was moaning so I am writing this blog post just for things to be aware of for when it comes to our next exhibition. It would have been the first exhibition for most of us in the group which means there are things like this that would happen and would need to be picked up on. Overall I think the exhibition was successful in a sense that we only had a short space of time to organise it and also the turn out was very decent for something that hadn't been publicised as much as it would have if we had more time to organised everything.
