Sound design was something I thought about quite early on when putting the edit together. I have really caught on now that good sound design really sells a piece of work. I have mentioned this before in a previous blog post for the last module, If you take away sound from a horror film, The effect is instantly taken away. I wanted to make sure it was solid and was definitely going to be complete.
As you can see it is quite a busy edit of overlapping sounds but the effect I got was just what I wanted. The action sequence at the start of my film involves a lot a bassy sounds and a lot of metally transformer like sounds as my space ship is something that is always moving in itself. As my focus is towards Film, It was my chance to make the sound design as cinematic as possible which would contrast the second scene which is more cartoony. I had a good look through the Hanna Barbera Sound Library for some cartoon sound effects and picked out sounds such as the Flintstone Crashing sound as Jeff hits the floor and the birds tweeting as we have the shot of Jeff in a dizzy state.
