Advertisements

I have been looking at a few adverts for big brands such as Nike, Reebok, M&S just to simply see how they advertise there brand and why they do it that way. The key is in advertising is to sell something to its audience. Not just in a buying way, but it need to capture peoples attention. Seems obvious but thats what its all about.

Reeboks easy tone trainer was created to tone the legs and bum. So the most obvious way to show this product would be to show a lot of leg and bum. The gaze is what the selling point it here. Slim, sexy legs attract the males attention and for women, its showing how their legs could look. We have numerous shots of pairs of legs doing everyday things. Hovering, cleaning, walking the dog to show that they don't have to be worn whilst doing exercise.

The Nike advert below is more towards showing off the brand by including number 1 and 2 worlds best golfers battling it out. Tiger Woods has obviously been around much longer than Rory, so its a battle between that number one spot. The message throughout is that no cup is safe which comes from them hitting golf balls in everyones drinks. Its a less obvious piece of advertisement compared to the video above but the message is different. Nike havn't shot this to make people go and buy something, although it might attract people to the golf brand, they have created it for the purpose of showing off the brand by having the 2 best golfers in the world representing them, which is a massive selling point.
