For the past few months, things have been a bit hectic. With me starting work for MTV, my time spent in Leeds has dropped dramatically which means the time I get to spend in Uni has dropped. I really needed to find a way of balancing them both out keep myself happy, MTV and my peers at Uni who I am currently working with. The key thing for me when being away is to be easily assessable, always having my phone on me so if anyone needs me we can talk. Our group for our FMP project has its own facebook chat so thats great for us to keep in touch. Which leads me on to mention how much of a strong effect social media has on a busy lifestyle. What would I have done 10 years ago in this situation? My peers wouldn't have been able to contact me and because I am on the road a lot emails from work would have had to wait to be dealt with when I got back to the computer at home which could have been 4 days later.
Another obvious thing I have been doing to keep the ball rolling at both ends is just top keep to deadlines and waste no time. If MTV require something, get it done straight away, if not a few days earlier so its not hanging around. One of the most important things I think is being able to work on the road. Instead of wasting 4 hours of a journey doing nothing, being able to edit, do work whilst on the train or in the car is essential and has helped me an awful lot. Not everyone has laptops which means that could be hard but if you are working in the same sort of job, having a laptop would be one of the main things to invest in. Finally I think that always talking to one another and not keeping quiet is the best thing. As soon as one person goes quiet, things start to get out of hand, no one knows whats going on and can all go pair shaped
Below is something I found off Jobs.co.uk about how to balance a busy lifestyle out. Something on there could be applied to my situation. Others more for general 'busyness'
