As a freelancer, the use of social media benefits me a great deal in many ways. I have set up a Facebook and a Twitter page for myself as 'Thomas Bone Photography & Video' which I am then able to share through my normal Facebook account. A lot of my work that I have picked up in the past, has been through these couple of pages that I have set up. I have noticed that your name gets exposed a lot more than what it does when handling things through business cards. Just through posting an album of photos or a new video, it can lead to someone saying, 'that is what I am looking for'. And through a couple of shares through friends, your audience is opening up even more.
I think the most important thing at this stage would be just getting people to see my work. Keeping up to date on what you are doing and posting your most recent work is what keeps your followers interested.
A lot of the time my work is posted on other pages such as the clubs pages so all I do is post a link to my page in the description so the people who are looking at the photos know who has taken the photos. Also as my new log have been completed, I now have that to post in the corner of the photos. I just wanted a logo that was simple and memorable so when people see the images, video with the logo on they know who's work it is. The logo is in the image below of the front page of my Facebook page.
