For this module we were given 4 shots to work with for our short film. We then had to go away in our own time and film our own shots that concluded our film. As I mentioned in a previous post, I swapped rolls with Lija (another student) which meant that I would be filming for her as well as my own. I had to make sure that the shots I got for her were at the standard she was expecting as the concept work I received from her in return was at a very high standard.
I had to take several things into account when I was filming. I had to make sure the Green Screen and the subject was lit correctly to make her job easier when it came to keying Jeff out (her actor) in After Effects. Lija was using two live actors in her scene because she chose not to model an alien in Maya. A couple of her shots that she wanted to have made me think about what focal lengths I had to use to make the shot effective. For example, Lija wanted a POV shot from the Aliens perspective looking down at the victim. To make this shot look good, I got as close as I could with the camera and went as wide as possible to make it feel like the Alien was really close. If I was to be further back but zoomed right into the face, the effect would not be the same due to how narrow the field of view would be.
