Cold Morning In Leeds

The other morning, I decided to wake up early and go out with my 7d and my Glidetrack and get some footage of frosty leeds. When I had my group chat for PPP I brought up that I wanted to try and go a bit arty with my video work. A lot of the time it is paid commission work which means I don't really have much opportunity to film other things on my own behalf. Cinematography is something that I love and with the jobs I normally get, the opportunity to express my cinematography skills is minimal. I am going to make sure I keep going out with my camera on a regular basis to keep improving my skills which would improve the quality of work I produce for my commissioned work. Weddings and music videos would benefit a great deal with high quality cinematography.

The video itself, I am quite happy with. It was a very cold morning which meant I could hardly feel my hands which didn't really help having to push a camera along a track and a slow consistant speed. You can see in a couple of shots where the speed increases and decreases but with more practice and better weather, that can easily be improved. Or I should go and buy a pair of gloves so my hands don't get so cold. Another things which I wish I did was borrowing one of the video tripods from college. The tripod I use at the minute isn't very stable when it comes to holding a Glidetrack and a 7d. As the camera gets to the end the tripod tends to start tipping whereas the video tripods from college are a lot heavier, stable and much better quality which means it can hold the Glidetrack and camera with ease. If I had done that, I could have got a better variety of shots such as panning up and down and on the diagonal. These are things I will take into my next shoot and hopefully the quality of the shots will improve which would allow me to but a stronger edit together
