COP2 Practical
The area of study I have chosen is subcultures and style. The reason I have chosen this particular area is because I want to look at how the fashions of subcultures have changed since the 1960's. I have chosen to focus on the fashion side of subcultures because what was worn by peoples in a particular subculture was integral to them being recognised as being a member of that group, for example, hippies of the 60s all wore bell bottoms, flowers with long shaggy hair. I have decided the best way to represent this will be with a film. I want to take one model/actress and change their fashion to represent that of the times. To show the era I will be depicting I am going to have other actors in the background holding signs with issues from the times written on them e.g. for hippie I will have a sign with 'Make Love Not War' written on it. The actors will be walking changing fashions as they pass the different signs. For the 1960s I will use hippies and flower power fashion, for the 70's I will use disco, the 80's will be punk, 90's ravers and 00's emo and 10's hipsters. I also want to use music that is iconic of the time period, 60s Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth. 70's The Tramps - Disco Inferno. 80's The Clash - London Calling. 90's The Prodigy - Firestarter 00's My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade. 10's Kid Cudi - Pursuit of Happiness. I have chosen these pieces because not only are they symbolic but they are all contrasting, I felt this was importance so the difference in subcultures is more exaggerated.
