Responsive Brief Idea

I have chosen to create a short fiction film because up to now, as portfolios are concerned, its a gap I would like to fill before putting my website together. I have worked on many event/music videos in the past which is good but I feel like I need to show my creative side without having a brief to work to. This would be a great opportunity to do just that. Up to now my idea is a short film about a young boy/girl who is crazy about superheros. We will follow the child around through there day to day life as he/she does all daily activities as if they had superpowers. For his/her birthday they receive a presents which ends up being a superhero costume. Another idea was to have a shot of the child searching through the wardrobe where he/she makes a silly costume out of there normal clothes. for example having them use pants as a hat and tights as gloves. The 2 minute film wont contain hardly any dialogue between characters but it will have plenty of diagetic sounds coming from the child. Superhero noises, quotes from films etc. I would like to end the film by having the child become a hero accidentally. Something like playing in the park and getting in the way of someone who is being chased which causes them to trip up and get caught. I think it would be a nice finish to a film about a child who  thinks one day they will become a superhero.

There are a few things I need to think about before I can move to the next stage.
  • Finding a child actor/actress around the age of 5-8 and will the actor/actress be from leicester or leeds and can they travel?
  • If its in Leeds who's house can I use to film the indoor scenes, If in leicester who's house?
  • When are children off school?

This advert for Volkswagen is a perfect representation of what I want to achieve. Obviously there is a difference with this being an advert, but the overall feel of the video is what I want to achieve. We have all been there when we have come out of a cinema and we have thought we are one of the characters. This is the thing I want to capture. I want to show how much the child loves superheros and how much they want to become a superhero one day.
