I came across another example of a video using a 'child superhero'. This is a music video which is showing how the child acts during the day which is trying to be a superhero. The video has a scene where the child attempts to attack some bullies but because they are a lot bigger and stronger than him, he just gets nocked to the floor. They follow this up by having a close up on the boys hand as he clenches his fist to emphasise he is getting stronger. This is seen in a lot of big superhero films, where the hero has been defeated and we think its all over but we are then shown in some way that they are either still alive or they are going to make a come back.
This video is not giving an example of how I want my film to look. Visually I looking at having a style like the video below. It is a lot more clean and cut back. Using equipment like Glidetracks and cranes. This is because 1, It is a style I must prefere, and 2 because with my film not having much dialogue, I dont think having an edit as dynamic as the one above will work very well together. A much cleaner edit will fit a lot better.
This short film is by International award winning Writer/Director Topaz Adizes. His films have been screened and Cannes, Sundance, SXSW, Cinema Du Reel, Morelia International, Sao Paolo International, Zinebi International Film Festival, Aspen Shortsfest, Transilvania International and many more. It is a perfect representation of what I want to achieve visually(shot types) and verbally. Not really much dialogue but a lot of diagetic sound. Location wise this is not something I am looking at as it would not be possible unless I was willing to travel out far but with not driving I am quite restricted. I am more giving an example here on what sort of shots I will be using. For example, the opening shot. gives us the sense of isolation and silence even though we have diagetic sound. I can just imagine having a shot like this of my actor/actress, running across the shot doing a superhero noise and then cutting to them running the other way and so on. Hopefully this gives you an idea of what I want to achieve from this.
