Music Video Storyboard

With my essay being all about the visual language of the music video, I wanted to create something for my practical which was, new, current with elements of the old school, fun, Michel Gondry style. I was working with a young, confidant artist so I wanted to have him in front of camera from start to finish. One of the reasons being, he has quite a bit fan base now so I don,t think it would have made sense to not have him in the video. My idea was to have a studio setup, white backdrop, lights but I wanted to show a music video being created within my music video. There are 5 ket parts of the music video. The first will be a wide shot of the studio with my artist in the middle holding onto a mic stand, exposed wires in the shot and some lights, which then leads us onto a shot of someone having a made up cardboard control desk, having the hot a big crop button which then crops the image on screen to make it nicely composed . The next stage would be a composite button which when hit, a clone of him will pop up next to him, playing the guitar and its hit again to reveal another clone playing the keyboard. There will be a number of cut away shots such as close ups and medium close ups of each character playing there instrument. We then have a 'grade' moment when the person hits a grade button which sends the image from flat, to a graded video. The next would be animate, this is where the button will be pressed and 2, 2d stick men appear, one standing on the keyboard and one on my artists shoulder, one will have a trumpet for the trumpet solo in the song, and the other will be singing the harmonies when we get near the end of the song. I thought this would be a nice touch relating it to the early days of music and video coming together which I briefly talk about in my essay.
