Change of Idea

Due to many reasons, I have made a decision to put the project I wanted to do originally on hold for the summer and come up with a new idea. I made the decision as I think I would have struggled to find a child actor/actress to use for the time I would want to be filming. I realised that children aren't off school till mid may which causes issues and also getting a child to location of where I would want to shoot will be another problem as more than likely a parent of the child would have to bring them along which means they would have to get time off work. All of these reasons would leave me the only option to film at the weekend but because it would be a crew shoot and a lot of equipment would be needed from Uni, either someone has got to take lots of equipment home with them or something has to be organised  through uni to pick it all up on the saturday. That is not a huge problem but I think with the time we have from now and final crit, Its adding to the list of things to organise, and because I am working on my own, will it add more pressure. The main reason for backing out of this project is really time. Because the decision was made go for the child superhero project just a few days ago, time already seems to be ticking away and I don't really want to be rushing things and putting myself in a huge stress.

SO....

I have made a decision to go down the route of an extreme sports video. Now when I mention that, to a lot of people that means a camera and a fish eye following someone doing tricks. That is not the way I want mine to look. Cinematography and editing are the key things I am focusing on so I want each shot to be thought through carefully. For example for each trick they perform I want to know what equipment I am going to use (Eg Dolly, Crane, Glidetrack). It will be storyboarded and planned in great detail. Below is am example of the sort of thing I am looking to get out of this project. It is one of my favourite videos starring the amazing Danny MacAskill.

As you can see, each individual shot would have been planned out, maybe storyboarded. To me the equipment that has been used is a tripod, a glidetrack and a crane which are things we have access to use. The location is really run down and grotty but is beautiful. So I think location would be key to getting something very ascetically pleasing.

I have starting messaging a few people asking if they know any good riders or skateboarders so the next stage really will be to get together with someone who is going to be in my video and chat about what sort of things they can do, do they know any good locations and then go from there with story boarding and more planning.
