I love things in slow motions, and I don't think I have seen a full short film that has been shot in Slow motion yet apart from this one. I think it is very effective and without it, the film would be completely different. If it wasn't the video would be extremely fast paced and would be over in a couple of minutes which would take away the 'beauty' of every single shot. I do think there are parts in our DCM short where slow motion could happen, especially the reaction shots. This would make our audience play close attention to really how our character is feeling, we will be able to see that chance in facial expression instead of just seeing the end reaction because the change of expression was so fast. For the running shots, I think real time will work very well, and I think it is a must because of the short amount of time we have in total (30 seconds)

KIN (Cinematography)
Kin is a short I came across a while ago but I never got round to talking about it. Its not so much what the film is about that I am interested in, it is how beautiful the cinematography is. Cinematography is something I am focusing on in my group project so finding videos like this for reference is just what I need. There are a few shots in particular I have been paying close attention to which have really given me a solid idea of what shots I want to capture for our 30 second DCM Film. The shots where the camera is following the child running through the long grass starting from 1:50 are shots that I want to capture using my glidecam. I think this shot has a lot of energy, even though the shot is in slow motion compared to the shot at 1:42. Both lovely shots but I think for our Film, the steadicam shot is more effective and what we will properly end up using. The close ups in this film are beautiful. Close ups are shots that will be very important in our DCM short so seeing such beautiful shots used here is very inspirational (2:10). Colour grading will not be something I will be tackling much during this project but I do feel that the grade on this film also fits what we are trying to do. The conditions seem to be similar to what we will be working in (daylight, natural light) yet they have managed to make it look very dramatic and moody.
